Independence is nothing new to me. I've always enjoyed my own company, have an inquiring mind with plenty to interest me, however this time last year I'd become aware that something was missing. I wasn't lacking, there was just a niggling feeling that I needed to add to my life. So, I decided to take some time out or, as my family would say "She can't come to the phone right now, she's just popped out to Broken Hill".
It took a bit of time to wind down, but I settled into the pace of country life quite well and began to enjoy it. I'd stop wherever I felt inclined to and always, always there was a great laugh to be had with someone who knew absolutely nothing of me or my past.... and likewise. They just saw me as someone who not only loves a laugh but is interesting, intelligent, fearless and hot - alright, a little creative licence on that last one, but you get the picture.
So, it was by the kindness of strangers and how they were with me, that I saw myself as more than I thought I was. This trip away really was the making of me and the past twelve months shown that.
We're more than who we think we are.
