Always thinking of starting something new? But never quite get around to it…? Welcome to my life. Always thinking of starting new things? But never quite get around to it? You’re not alone. We’re all in this together and let me tell you, it’s been four years since I first starting thinking about and writing blog posts, but never hit the PUBLISH button….. well I did, but not regularly anyway.
You see, life gets in the way. Work, career and for me, my biggest problem was listening to other people and their ideas about what would really work, what would really be of interest. Suddenly, I’d veered so far off course, away from the original intention to simply blog what I know about, that I was lost, adrift, unsure, lacking in confidence and therefore, unpublished. Know the feeling? Now, I’m no writer, just someone getting in and having a go. Pushing through the pain of remembering the heartache of not getting stuff done, hearing everyone else’s version of what I should write about… then hello, a woman called Brene Brown comes along with her famous catchphrase about "being in the arena", and voila, I realise if these lovely people whom I listened to, are not in the arena, then why am I listening to them? What was I thinking? Now this is something else I realised and just as important: Sometimes we’re never meant to actually do anything. Sometimes we’re just meant to dream away. It is seriously okay. Sometimes out bright ideas are never meant to see the light of day in the public arena…. left unsaid and unrealised is realistic and more common than we think. On the other hand, when we work on our own timeline, our own self-determination decides what is right for us. Our natural self kicks in and we listen to our self. We decide naturally what is right, what is achievable and what is necessary. And after an 8 month hiatus from thinking about what I’d never achieved, thinking about what I had achieved made me feel better and now here I am. I’m Melissa Matthews and welcome to my blog. PS: If you’ve ever given me advice, don’t worry, I’ve probably given you advice…… Comments are closed.
